Most of the modern DSLR cameras feature full HD 1080p video recording features apart from the excellent picture taking abilities but if video recording is your main concern are you better of with a standard HD camcorder or a DSLR. I compare some of the advantages / dis-advantages of using video with DSLR.
The advantage of modern day DSLR with Video recording capabilities is that you get two devices in one a great camera which can take outstanding pictures and a video recorded which can record sharp and crisp videos in FULL HD, but before you buy a DSLR with the main intention of using it for recording videos do have a look at this video I made where I compare some common scenarios where a traditional HD camcorder might be a better choice, also do note that a standard HD camcorder will cost you a lot less than a DSLR with full HD video recording options, but there are also some areas where a DSLR camera has an edge over a camcorder.
